Packing for El Nido, Philippines

I hate to admit it, but I am a notorious overpacker.  I'm one of those travelers who also get stressed leaving behind clothes and accessories I'd like to wear, knowing that I can only rely on a handful of items for a week.

Since island hopping can be unpredictable, and suitcases with wheels are not ideal, I was determined to fit everything into one backpack. Yes, that's right, a Jansport school backpack, not your average "backpacker" backpack (I'm sorry, I know they're probably very practical and all, but they are ugly and scream guiri).

I am happy to say that not only did I pack a variety of outfits, I was able to fit them all into the Jansport!

Here's the breakdown:

I've realized that the key is to stick to one color scheme. I chose white, red and black with touches of purple. Accessories in nude tones work with everything. As you can see in the photo, the elephant pillow I bought in Thailand last year was the inspiration for this pallet.

I recommend to pack dried fruit and nuts to stay nourished on a red eye flight!
The cookies are a must to keep spirits happy.  ;)
Taking a moment to admire packing perfection...

As they say, nothing is impossible!

Well that's it for now, since the plane is leaving!  Zài jiàn Shanghai!
